The Academy is running a special presentation for schools.  We are visiting schools around Dorset to interact with children about the importance of eating the right foods to stay fit and healthy.  The response is fantastic and we can’t wait to set off in a couple of weeks to educate children, parents and teachers :-)  Click here to view the flyer

OzRachel Light has descended on Australia with her first visit to Canberra.  On Monday 17th August Rachel will meet with the Australian Institute of Sport and will be shown around their facilities including the Testing and Research Unit for Swimming.  On Tuesday 18th August Rachel Light will visit Swimming Australia, the governing body for Swimming in Australia, she hopes to gain a greater insight in to grass roots level swimming and understand just how they support their athletes right to the top, including funding for the sport and where it gets spent.  On Wednesday 19th August Rachel will take to the studio of ABC 666 Canberra Radio Station for a follow up interview.  Rachel has already been interviewed by one of the presenters.  You can listen to the interview here (Download 2MB: Right Click & “Save Target As”).  After her visit to the studio Rachel will catch a flight to Brisbane for further meetings with sporting organisations.  Stay tuned for further info or contact news@yatasports.com

OzMost of the sponsorship money is now raised and Rachel Light has booked her flight and most appointments in Australia. Her trip is no longer centred around just swimming, although swimming is the main focus, she has also appointments with Brisbane Broncos, Surf Australia, as well as the Australian Institute of Sport and Queensland Government with many more. Skills ActiveDorset coach Rachel Light plans to spend two weeks in Australia this summer to discover the secrets of the nation’s sporting success thanks to the support of SkillsActive and the Nancy Ovens Trust. Rachel – who is the head coach at the recently launched Young Athletes Training Academy (YATA) in Poole – beat out 57 applicants from around the country to receive one of six SkillsActive and Nancy Ovens bursaries.
